Jose Enrique wants to see Liverpool make a move for Chelsea midfielder

Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique would like to see the club make a move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

The Englishman has spent the entire 2021-22 campaign playing for Crystal Palace (loan spell) and has impressed.

Gallagher has scored eight goals and registered five assists in 31 appearances for the Eagles this season.

The 22-year-old has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.23 across the current campaign.

With that being the case, Enrique believes that Gallagher would be a fine addition to Liverpool's midfield.

The Spaniard tweeted the following: "I will love Gallagher at LFC. What a player. Love his quality and the intensity. It will fit perfect in Klopp's style of play."

It is important to note that Liverpool have not genuinely been linked with a move for Gallagher.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Gallagher, who is set to return to Chelsea at the conclusion of the 2021-22 campaign, is certainly a talented player.

But, the Englishman also works hard out on the pitch. So yes, Enrique is correct. Gallagher is the type of player that would fit into Jurgen Klopp's system.

As we have already pointed out, Gallagher is only 22 years of age. Klopp does have a track record of developing and nurturing young players.

Therefore, we are confident that Gallagher could go to another level under the German.

Liverpool are currently a midfielder short. The club never replaced Gini Wijnaldum. The Dutchman departed Anfield and joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer last summer.

Gallagher would be a decent replacement for the aforementioned reasons.

However, we don't believe that Chelsea would sell one of their young talents to a rival club. Gallagher's Blues contract does not expire until the summer of 2025, so a free transfer is off the table for quite some time.

Despite that being the case, we would love to see Gallagher representing Liverpool in the future.
