Jorg Schmadtke has revealed that Liverpool could raid the Bundesliga further this summer as they look to reinforce their squad before the transfer window's conclusion.

The Reds signed Dominik Szoboszlai from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig after triggering his £60m release clause and have been linked with a handful of names from the German top flight, with Borussia Monchengladbach's Manu Kone and Wolfsburg's Micky van de Ven among those previously mentioned — though both stories have since gone cold.

In recent weeks, Bayern Munich duo Ryan Gravenberch and Leon Goretzka have also been mentioned as potential targets as the Reds look to recruit quality midfielders due to the impending departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to Sky Germany, Schmadtke indicated that Liverpool could return to the Bundesliga for future arrivals, highlighting his experience in Germany as a key factor.

He said: “Of course, there are always players in Germany who are attractive. Then my experience in the market is in demand. Because, of course, I know a little bit about how the other side is paid and how the other side proceeds in negotiations. The German market is my home market and of course easier for me. But it’s not like we’ve now pointed all our telescopes at Germany.”

Schmadtke is an experienced figure in the game and knows the Bundesliga inside-out, having spent the entirety of his professional career in Germany before joining Liverpool as the club's sporting director this summer. The 59-year-old, however, has his work cut out for him as the Reds desperately need midfield reinforcements in the coming weeks.

Liverpool have done some good work to recruit Szoboszlai and Argentina midfielder Alexis Mac Allister for a combined £95m, but they will need more additions to breathe new life into a midfield that has been dismantled this summer.

In addition to the Germany-based players, the Reds have been linked with the likes of Romeo Lavia (Southampton), Cheick Doucoure (Crystal Palace) and Joao Palhinha (Fulham).
