Liverpool have agreed a deal worth £12m plus add-ons to sell midfielder Jordan Henderson to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq.

Henderson had travelled to Germany for Liverpool's pre-season training camp, but was left out of the friendly match with Karlsruher SC on Wednesday evening.

Multiple reports now claim that Liverpool and Al-Ettifaq of the Saudi Pro League have agreed a £12m deal plus unspecified potential add-ons for the midfielder's transfer.

The figure represents something of a compromise for Liverpool, who were reported to be holding out for £20m initially.

Fabrizio Romano broke the news first, adding that Henderson had already signed a three-year deal last week, with only "documents to be checked" and a medical to be completed before an official announcement by the clubs.

The move will end Henderson's 12-year stay at Anfield, and eight year reign as Reds captain.

While there had been talk that 33-year-old Henderson would receive a wage of £700k a week to move to Saudi Arabia, a report by Neil Jones and Paul Joyce in the Times instead put his expected wage at a lower figure (relatively speaking) of £350k a week.

Henderson will be managed by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq, who play in the Saudi city of Dammam.

The deal is expected to be closely followed by Fabinho's £40m move to fellow Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, with the 29-year-old midfielder not travelling to Germany with the rest of the Liverpool squad.

With both deals finally nearing completion, the Reds can turn their attention to incoming transfers, with at least one more midfielder and a left-sided centre back top of the agenda for Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool hierarchy.
