John Barnes weighs in on Premier League title race

Former Liverpool winger John Barnes has given his opinion on the 2021-22 Premier League title race.

After 29 games, the Reds are only one-point behind league leaders Manchester City. Chelsea sit in third-place on the Premier League table, but they are 10 points behind Liverpool.

Both Manchester City and Liverpool are set to meet at the Etihad Stadium on the 10th of April. Barnes believes that the aforementioned clash will decide where the title ends up.

However, the 58-year-old has Manchester City ahead of Liverpool in the race for the trophy.

“I can see both teams winning the vast majority of their games left this season," he told BonusCodeBets, as quoted by the Daily Star.

“It’s the game that they play one another which will be the decider. City are at home and they are still in the driving seat. I’d make City the slight favourites, but Liverpool have a much better chance than they did six weeks ago.

“The international break will not mean that Liverpool won’t go into their next fixture with any momentum. Liverpool have a strong enough squad now to compete at all levels, in all competitions. But both Liverpool and City are playing consistently well and it will go down to the wire.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We can 100 percent see where Barnes is coming from. The clash between Liverpool and Manchester City is huge.

If neither team slips up either side of that particular fixture, it very much will be the title decider.

Liverpool have not won at the Etihad Stadium since 2018. As things stand, the Reds will have to break a four-year drought if they are to claim the 2021-22 Premier League title.

But, we are confident that Jurgen Klopp's side can get the job done. They have won big games in the past.
