Former Liverpool forward John Aldridge has highlighted that Reds winger Mohamed Salah is out of form.

The Egyptian international has had a very good 2021-22 campaign. Salah has scored 28 goals and registered 10 assists in 38 appearances for Liverpool.

However, Salah has not scored from open play for six weeks, which Aldridge touched on when discussing the forward's form.

The 63-year-old also implied that the 29-year-old's contract situation is impacting his form. It has been reported that Salah is wanting more money than what Liverpool are prepared to offer him.

“As good as he is, as great as he is, as much as we love him, on present form he’s struggling,” Aldridge told Sky Sports, as quoted by The Boot Room.

“People might say he’s had his head turned but his contract situation doesn’t help.

“He hasn’t scored from open play for six weeks and he’s just not himself on the pitch.”

It is also important to note that Egypt recently failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. That could also potentially be impacting Salah's form.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool do have a huge Premier League clash against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium coming up on Sunday. Both sides are gunning for the title.

Despite Salah's form, we would not be dropping him for the aforementioned fixture. The man is a world-class talent.

Salah has won the Premier League Golden Boot on two occasions (2017-19), which backs up the aforementioned argument.

You don't just drop players of the Egyptian international's quality for massive games. We are confident that Salah will find his feet again.

Hopefully the 29-year-old can return to form against Manchester City this weekend. If Salah performs well against Citizens, he could potentially win Liverpool the 2021-22 Premier League title.

We wish him all the best for the remainder of the season.
