Joe Gomez has admitted that even a quadruple win will not convince Jurgen Klopp to stay at Liverpool next season.

The Liverpool manager shocked the world of football with the news of his decision to quit Anfield at the end of the current campaign after over eight-and-a-half years in charge.

While speculation is rife as to how the Reds' hierarchy will replace the legendary manager, Liverpool have the chance to give the boss the perfect send off, with the club still in the hunt for up to four trophies.

Having already secured the Carabao Cup with Sunday's win over Chelsea at Wembley, the Reds next face Southampton in the FA Cup fifth round, while Klopp's side are also top of the Premier League and in the last 16 of the Europa League.

However, even the prospect of more honours will not persuade Klopp to do a U-turn and stay on at Anfield, Gomez has confirmed.

“Nah, definitely not,” said the defender.

“Understanding how long he’s been here, I think he knows he has done everything he can. He has won it all. Everyone respects his decision and we understand it.

“He is one of the wisest men we know and when he says he’s ready, he’s ready. It is what it is, we can’t dwell on that, we just have to do him justice.”

On whether the squad feel extra incentive to finish the season on a high for the boss, Gomez said: “It’s kind of like it is obvious, it doesn’t need to be spoken about.

“Everyone knows about the importance and we get that aura anyway in team meetings at the minute.

“We know it’s that last hurrah and we just want to give our all for him. We always did but now when the finishing line is in sight it adds that extra emphasis.

“It’s special and hopefully it’s the first of a few we can get this year.”

An injury-depleted Liverpool take on Southampton in the FA Cup at Anfield on Wednesday night, before a return to Premier League action away at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
