Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe has addressed recent reports surrounding Liverpool's 'fantastic' Jarell Quansah.

Ryan Lowe has no idea where reports linking his Preston North End side with Jarell Quansah have come from. He's openly discussed the chances of securing Liverpool's young defender - but doesn't see anything happening.

"I don't know where that came from, to be honest," said Lowe, per the Lancashire Post. "Quansah is a fantastic player, but I don't see him going out from Liverpool anytime soon - if he's playing in Europa League games. He will probably play tonight [against LASK]!

"So again, I don't know where it came from. But, he is a quality player, yeah."

The Post does claim that Preston have looked into Quansah previously but there appears to be absolutely no chance of a January transfer. Certainly, it's one that would catch Lowe by surprise.

Quansah has enjoyed a remarkable rise this season. Jurgen Klopp had a look at him in pre-season and admitted that he didn't see the youngster becoming an option quite so soon.

But the 20-year-old has become something of a regular in the EFL Cup and Europa League. Injuries and suspensions forced Klopp's hand a little, certainly, but Quansah has stepped up to become a very useful member of the squad.

And so the question now is just how far can he go? Liverpool may well look to reinvest in their defence come January and, if not, the summer feels like a certainty in that regard.

Quansah will want to position himself so he's competing with any new arrivals. So far, he's done just that and some of his performances have been seriously impressive. In fact, they've been impressive even without taking his lack of senior experience into account.

Liverpool have a real talent in Quansah, then, and it'll be exciting to see just how far he can go over the coming years.
