Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool could enter the transfer market for another attacking player amid Luis Diaz's poor run of form this season, adding that the 26-year-old currently looks like a 'shadow of himself'.

The Colombian attacker has scored just five goals across 22 appearances in all competitions this season and hasn't scored a Premier League goal in seven games as he blanked against Arsenal once again on Saturday. Off the pitch, Diaz endured a turbulent time earlier this season when his father, Luis Manuel Diaz, was kidnapped and held captive by Colombian rebel group ELN before being released 12 days later.

Nevertheless, Diaz's form has been a cause of concern for Liverpool, with Carragher suggesting that the Reds could look to draft in another attacking player at the end of the season if he continues to misfire. Speaking on Gary Neville's podcast, he said:

“Diaz just looks a shadow of himself since those knee injuries he had last season, obviously he had family problems this season. I really feel that Diaz especially on that left side has got to have a really big second half of the season or I’m sure Liverpool will be going into the market in the summer because it just feels that, with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino going, they haven’t really replaced them in terms of quality."

Diaz hasn't been the same player since returning from the knee injury he sustained at the start of the 2022-23 campaign, but the past few months haven't been easy for the 26-year-old considering everything that's happened in his personal life. However, if the Reds are to make a push for the Premier League title in the second half of the season, they need Diaz back to his destructive best.
