James Ward-Prowse says former Red can't stop talking about Steven Gerrard

James Ward-Prowse has revealed that England teammate and former Liverpool defender Conor Coady can't stop talking about Reds legend Steven Gerrard.

Ward-Prowse was recently asked which footballer he has taken inspiration from when it comes to taking set-pieces.

The 27-year-old named Gerrard as one of the players and also revealed that Coady is a big fan of the former Liverpool midfielder.

“Steven Gerrard would probably be the other one,” Ward-Prowse told The Times, as quoted by Rousing The Kop.

“Conor Coady doesn’t stop talking about him!”

We are not remotely surprised that Coady looks up to Gerrard.

Coady was at Liverpool between 2005-14, which meant that he was at the club at the same time as the midfielder.

Gerrard scored 186 goals and registered 150 assists in 710 appearances for Liverpool's first-team. The Scouser also won nine major trophies with the Reds.

The man will always be known as one of the club's greatest ever players. Therefore, we don't blame Coady, who is also a Scouser, to constantly mention Gerrard.

We wish the 41-year-old was still representing the Reds, so it was a sad day when he left the club at the conclusion of the 2014-15 campaign.

Also, we can see why Ward-Prowse tries to model his free-kicks off Gerrard. The midfielder was exceptional when it came to taking set-pieces.

Gerrard has gone into management since retiring from professional football. Before the 41-year-old became Aston Villa's head coach late last year, he won the Scottish Premier Premiership with Rangers.

Perhaps one day we will see Gerrard manage the Reds. It would be brilliant to see a legend of the club return to coach the first-team.

But, Gerrard will have to earn that right. In saying that, he has had a reasonable start to his managerial career.
