James Pearce has given an update on Liverpool's plans for the 2022 January transfer window.

The Reds only signed one player back in the summer. Centre-back Ibrahima Konate joined the club from RB Leipzig for a transfer fee of €40 million.

However, the upcoming January transfer window could be even quieter for the Reds. Pearce is under the impression that Liverpool will not be making any signings in the winter.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Pearce told The Athletic the following: "As things stand I’m not expecting LFC to reinforce the squad in January."

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

We are surprised to hear that Liverpool are not planning on signing anyone in January.

The reality is, Reds forwards Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will be taking part in the Africa Cup of Nations at the beginning of 2022.

Therefore, both players won't be available to play for Liverpool in the early parts of January.

With that being the case, we thought that the Reds would be preparing a move for a winger.

But, going by Pearce's update, Liverpool are happy with the players at their disposal. On another note, the Reds will face Leicester City in the quarter-finals of the League Cup on Wednesday night.
