Journalist James Pearce has provided an update on the fitness of Fabio Carvalho and Curtis Jones ahead of Liverpool's opening Champions League group stage clash against Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

The reporter revealed that both Carvalho and Jones missed Liverpool's latest training session.

Therefore, it is unlikely that the midfielders will be available for tomorrow night's clash against Napoli.

"No sign of Carvalho or Jones in open training at Kirkby. Carvalho forced off in the derby, while Jones wasn't fit for the Everton game having only recently returned. Unclear what the issue is," he tweeted. "Good news is that Thiago (is) back in full training and looking sharp."

Anfield Watch Verdict

In an ideal world, both Carvalho and Jones would be available for the fixture against Napoli.

But, it is good to hear that Thiago is back. The midfielder has been out of action since the beginning of August due to a hamstring injury.

Thiago is a world-class footballer. There is a reason why he has played for the likes of Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

The Reds are definitely a better side when Thiago is in the starting XI. As the Spaniard has only just recovered from his hamstring injury, we don't expect him to start tomorrow.

But, the good news is that Thiago is back. We look forward to seeing the midfielder take to the pitch again.

On another note, Napoli will not be an easy team to beat. They sit in second-place in the Serie A table for a reason.

So, Liverpool will have to be on it if they are to beat Napoli tomorrow night.
