James Pearce scuppers Luis Diaz to Liverpool talk
Liverpool reporter for The Athletic, James Pearce, has confirmed that, whilst attacker Luis Diaz is highly rated, he is not currently on the radar of the Reds, despite some reports suggesting that the club was looking at him intently.
Liverpool are regularly linked with new attackers to come and challenge Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah for the wide positions, or to at least provide some cover, and Diaz has been one of the latest names to be linked in the last few days.
Indeed, some reports were going as far to suggest that a £60m fee could be agreed with reports from South America suggesting that the Reds were ones to watch in the race for his signature, but James Pearce has poured cold water on such talk.
He tweeted on Thursday:
Anfield Watch Verdict
It's perhaps no surprise that this is the case as Liverpool are not expected to be particularly busy in this window and so to suddenly be forking out £60m for a player in the winter window would be a real turn of events.
The attacker is obviously a quality footballer with room to get even better but it does seem as though the Reds are not massively intent on getting him at this moment in time at least.
Indeed, we've seen plenty of reports that Liverpool are close to agreeing deals for players only for those stories to be completely false, and that appears to be the case once again here - we are in the January transfer minefield after all.
