Liverpool forward Divock Origi is set to depart Anfield at the conclusion of the 2021-22 campaign, according to The Athletic's James Pearce, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.

Pearce said that the Belgium international, who is a free agent in June, wants to play regular senior football.

Origi is nothing more than a squad player at Liverpool. The 27-year-old has only made 16 appearances for the club's first-team this season.

Pearce further added that Origi is mulling over a lucrative offer from AC Milan.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Origi has been a handy player for Liverpool over the years. The forward joined the club from Lille for a transfer fee of £11.37 million back in the summer of 2014.

Since then, Origi has found the back of the net 41 times and registered 17 assists in 173 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

Along the journey, the 27-year-old has scored some big goals (2019 Champions League final, 2019 Champions League semi-finals and Merseyside derbies).

Origi has also won the Champions League, Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League title and League Cup during his time at Anfield.

Therefore, it will be a sad day when Origi does depart Liverpool. The man has done a lot for the Reds.

As Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said after yesterday's 2-0 win over Everton at home, Origi will go down as a legend of the club.

As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, the German said the following during his post-match press conference yesterday: "He is a legend on and off the pitch. He is a fantastic footballer, a world-class striker and is our best finisher, he always was."

But, all good things do come to an end. Whatever the future holds for Origi, we wish him all the best. Once a Red, always a Red.
