"I've seen the link" - Jamie Carragher on Liverpool's interest in Jude Bellingham

Former Liverpool centre-back Jamie Carragher has given his opinion on the club's reported interest in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.

The 19-year-old is a serious talent. Bellingham has scored 14 goals and registered 20 assists in 102 appearances for Borussia Dortmund's first-team.

The England international has also averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.40 across the early stages of the 2022-23 Bundesliga campaign.

Therefore, Carragher is hopeful that Liverpool will attempt to sign Bellingham in the near future.

"Well I've seen the links, but I just hope they're true. No one knows, do they? But there's no doubt that Liverpool will have a huge job in the summer, or whether that's in January, in terms of reconstructing their midfield," he told talkSPORT, as quoted by AW on Twitter.

"Just because of the age profile of a lot of the midfield players and also the fact that I think there's two or three players out of contract at the end of the season.

"So before you ever even think about the actual quality of maybe something extra that they need, it's obvious because of the situation the club finds itself in that they'll need two or three midfield players in the summer.

"And if Jude Bellingham is one of them, fantastic, because he is a great player. And as I said, there's going to be a lot of rumours between now and the end of the season with different midfield players. I just hope that one's true."

Anfield Watch Verdict

We would love to see Liverpool sign Bellingham. As we have already pointed out, the midfielder is a serious talent.

Bellingham is contracted until the conclusion of the 2024-25 campaign. Therefore, a free transfer is off the table for the time being.

Bellingham possesses a current market value of £81 million. But, there is no denying that the England international would be worth every penny.

Bellingham could play in Liverpool's midfield for well over a decade.
