"I've felt good" - Jordan Henderson assesses his 2021-22 campaign

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has given his verdict on his 2021-22 season thus far.

The midfielder had an interrupted 2020-21 campaign as a result of injuries, which meant that some supporters did question his long-term future at the club.

However, Henderson has been able to stay fit this season. With that being the case, the 31-year-old has made 41 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

Henderson recently said that he feels he has improved as a footballer this season.

“I’ve felt good this season and that I’ve performed consistently, I’ve felt very good in myself, physically and mentally, and will continue to improve all the time," he told isport, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.

"Every single year, I try and get better. I feel as though I’ve done that again.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Henderson has performed reasonably well across the 2021-22 campaign. The midfielder has scored three goals and registered six assists in 41 appearances for Liverpool.

With that being the case, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has had plenty of good things to say about Henderson.

“Hendo is essential to all the things we achieved in the last few years,” Klopp said earlier this season, as quoted by This Is Anfield.

“He has no point to prove, if anybody thinks he didn’t play a good season last season or whatever, he was injured in the last part which was very unlucky.

“Before that, he helped us in three different positions pretty much.

“We just had a tough year for all of us and the decisive period of the last season he couldn’t be involved because of injury, then he went to the Euros and was not involved as much because of the injuries before.

“But he has no point to prove and I never want to give him that feeling. I know his natural motivation is already at the limit."

We completely agree with Klopp's opinion regarding Henderson. Yes, the Englishman had a tough 2020-21 campaign as a result of injuries, but he was always going to return to his best providing he could get his body right.

Henderson did not have anything to prove as far as we are concerned.

It has been brilliant to see captain return from adversity and become a key cog in Klopp's team again.
