“I’ve been begging him to sign every single day" - Harvey Elliott on Mo Salah

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has revealed that he has begged Mohamed Salah to remain at Anfield.

The winger's contract expires in the summer of 2023. It has been reported that the club presented Salah with a new contract back in March.

However, the 29-year-old was unhappy with the terms. Therefore, no agreement has been reached between Salah and Liverpool.

With that being the case, Elliott said that he is doing everything he can to ensure that his teammate extends his stay at Anfield.

“I’ve been begging him to sign every single day," he told This is Anfield, as quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter.

"And I think the fans have as well. He’s been a great asset to this club, he’s got us to so many finals by scoring winning goals, important goals.

“He’s a great person to learn off and I’ve tried to get really close to him for the small details so I can be up there with him one day.

“It’s going to be very hard, to say the least, he’s a great player and very willing to help me out if it’s needed, to be able to share the right wing with him and Trent (Alexander-Arnold) as well is two players I’ve dreamed of playing with.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Like Elliott, we don't want to see Salah leave Liverpool anytime soon. The winger is a world-class footballer after all.

Salah has scored 156 goals and registered 63 assists in 254 appearances for the club's first-team.

The 29-year-old also averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.40 across the 2021-22 campaign.

Therefore, hopefully Salah and the Reds can reach an agreement sooner rather than later. Salah is one of our favourite players, so it would be heartbreaking if he left the club.
