“I’ve always said I loved to watch" - Former Red praises Liverpool man
Former Red Taiwo Awoniyi has recently praised Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino.
The 24-year-old said that he loves watching the Brazil international play football.
Awoniyi, who was a Liverpool player between 2015-21, further added that Firmino makes the players around him better.
As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Awoniyi told GOAL the following: “I’ve always said I loved to watch Roberto Firmino. The difference with him is that he makes it so easy for his other forwards. For people who really watch football, they know that not every striker can do what he does as a centre-forward. “Sometimes, you don’t find him in the centre-forward position, he comes into midfield, and not every striker can do this. For me, I always said it’s important to watch him and understand what he does.”ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Firmino has been a superb player for Liverpool.
The Reds signed the Brazil international from Hoffenheim for a transfer fee of €41 million back in the summer of 2015.
Firmino has scored 93 goals and registered 70 assists in 303 appearances for the club's first-team.
The 30-year-old has also won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Premier League title with Liverpool.
In terms of Awoniyi's comments, we completely agree. Firmino certainly makes the players around him better.
Firmino is a key cog in Jurgen Klopp's side as a result of his end product, movement and link-up play.
The Brazilian's contract expires in the summer of 2023. Therefore, the Anfield faithful should be able to sit back and watch Firmino represent the club for at least another year and a half.
