"It's not realistic" - Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool winning the quadruple

Speaking to former Liverpool player Peter Crouch, Jurgen Klopp has talked about Liverpool potentially winning the quadruple this season.

In a recent interview with Peter Crouch for BT Sport, as cited by Anfield Watch, Klopp has called winning the quadruple this season unrealistic.

"It's not a realistic target and it never was," said Klopp. "Nobody has ever won it before. You can't plan it. The schedule makes it really difficult. For us, we have to go for everything in each game so it makes it really unlikely.

"I don't want to stop the emotions of the people. I know our people are realistic but they are ready to dream when there is a chance. I couldn't be more relaxed about it. If we can win at least one other competition, that in itself would be outstanding.

"You prepare the whole season for the rest of the season. There isn't an international break anymore. We will see what happens, but that we are close enough around the big decision, that is already really cool."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Winning the quadruple is one of the hardest things to do in English football. There's a reason why no one has ever done it before.

So many things have to go your way. Luck has to be on your side, your players need to stay fit and a million other factors all have to go in your favour to even stand a chance of doing the impossible.

However, we are now in April and Klopp's Liverpool side are still within a chance of winning it all. They're in the Champions League quarter-finals, an FA Cup semi-final and are only one point behind the Premier League leaders.

Klopp obviously has to play it down but there is no doubt that the players and his staff will be thinking about it every day.

The first team to win the quadruple would be immortalised in English football history and if one team deserves that, it's this Liverpool side.
