"It's like disrespecting the Real Madrid badge" - Fede Valverde on Salah's comments

Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde has hit back at Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah.

Earlier this month, the Egyptian international said that he wanted to face Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

“I want to play Madrid, I have to be honest," Salah told BT Sport, as quoted by The Express.

The Reds will face the La Liga giants in France next Saturday. But, Valverde has made it clear that he is not pleased with Salah's initial comments.

As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, he told ESPN the following: "Obviously they are words that everyone can take however they want. I'm his opponent and it's like disrespecting the Real Madrid badge, the players.

"The only thing we must do is give our best, try to show why we're in the final and let's hope we can give another trophy to the fans and to Real Madrid."

Anfield Watch Verdict

We feel that Salah's comments have been blown out of proportion. From our understanding, the winger wants to defeat Real Madrid in the final because of what happened in 2018.

The Spanish side defeated the Reds 3-1 in the Champions League final. Salah was also forced off the pitch in the first-half due to an injury.

With that being the case, we don't blame the 29-year-old for wanting to put things right against Real Madrid.

As far as we are concerned, Salah could be the man to defeat the La Liga team. He has scored 31 goals and registered 16 assists in 50 appearances for the Reds this season.

Hopefully Salah can bring his A-game against Real Madrid next Saturday. Liverpool will be gunning for their seventh European Cup.

We wish Salah and his teammates all the best for the final.
