"It’s just the decision for this game" - Jurgen Klopp on dropping Fabinho for United
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has opened up on dropping Fabinho to the bench for the club's most recent Premier League clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The midfielder has been a mainstay in the German's starting XI since 2018. However, Klopp opted to start Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Harvey Elliott ahead of Fabinho last night.
Manchester United defeated Liverpool 2-1. Klopp had the following to say about the decision to drop the Brazilian.
"No, we have in the moment five senior midfielders and we have to start with three," he told the club's official website.
"We could start with two if we would have more attackers but we have only three attackers, so it means we start with three and then we change during the game and it’s like how we want to start.
"And how we want to change, we have to think before the game and that’s the only reason for it. This is not the story of the game as well. It’s just the decision for this game."
Anfield Watch Verdict
We can't believe that Fabinho did not start against Manchester United. The reality is, the midfielder has been such a key player for Liverpool over the years.
Fabinho has made 174 appearances for the club's first-team. He has helped the club win the Champions League, Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League title, League Cup, FA Cup and Community Shield.
So, hopefully we see Fabinho return to the starting XI against Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday.
But, only time will tell if that is to be the case.
