"It's in City's hands" - Jordan Henderson on the Premier League title race

Jordan Henderson has admitted that the Premier League title race is in Manchester City's hands after Liverpool failed to win at the Etihad on Sunday.

Speaking to Liverpool FC, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Liverpool's skipper said that there were 'mixed emotions' after the 2-2 draw against City yesterday.

"We wanted to come and win and then it would have been in our hands in the next seven games. Unfortunately, it's not and it's in City's hands," said Henderson.

"Mixed emotions as we wanted three points but we dug deep and didn't lose the game, which is important as well. We have to take the positives and move on and get ready for the next game.

"It's going to be an intense game at this level and magnitude, and it was, especially early on. We could have started a bit better but to be fair I thought we kept going and went behind twice and came back twice.

"That's really positive and shows great character to keep going in tough moments. But at the same time, we can be a bit better, especially with the ball. I felt when we played football it hurt them, and that's where the goals came from."

Anfield Watch Verdict

A win would've been a massive boost for the Liverpool players and fans mentally but it wouldn't have meant that the title race was over.

If Liverpool returned to Anfield with all three points they would've only been two points ahead of Manchester City and with seven games to go that could've easily been overturned by Pep Guardiola's side.

Thankfully, we didn't lose as that would've been the title race all but over. However, we're still one point behind City and they have some tough fixtures to play.

As Klopp and Pep have said before, 'this is the Premier League, there are no easy games.'
