Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is delighted that Reds forward Diogo Jota has signed a new deal.

It was confirmed earlier this week that the Portugal international had extended his stay at Anfield.

Jota is contracted until the conclusion of the 2026-27 campaign. Klopp had the following to say about the aforementioned news.

"Top, top, top. He has real commitment to the club, he's not even close to his top level. It's really good news for the club to sign a new contract. It's good news for him too," he told Liverpoolfc.com, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.

"It's good having him around, he's a character early in his life. He knows what to do to be successful."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Jota has proven to be a very good player for Liverpool over the years. The forward has scored 34 goals and registered nine assists in 85 appearances.

Jota is coming off a decent season. The Portugal international averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.08 across 35 Premier League fixtures. Jota has also secured the League Cup and FA Cup with Liverpool.

Former Red Michael Owen described the 25-year-old as an "instinctive player".

“We knew he was a good player at Wolves, but he has gone on again,” he told Premier League Productions back in February, as quoted by HITC.

“It helps when you are playing with great players as well.

“He’s a very instinctive player – he scores goals in tough situations. All he needs is a yard. Brilliant signing.”

We can't wait to see how Jota's entire Liverpool career pans out. He could be remembered as a legend of the club if he lives up to his potential.
