"It was unforgettable" - Takumi Minamino reflects on his time at Anfield

Takumi Minamino has reflected on his time at Anfield.

Liverpool signed the forward from RB Salzburg for a transfer fee of £7.65 million back in January 2020.

Minamino scored 14 goals and registered three assists in 55 appearances for the club's first-team.

The Japan international wasn't given much opportunity at Anfield simply because he was behind the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz.

Therefore, Minamino made the move to Monaco for a transfer fee of £13.50 million this summer.

However, the 27-year-old only has good things to say about his time at Liverpool.

“With Jurgen Klopp, it was unforgettable," he said, as quoted by The Empire of the Kop.

“He trusted me. I didn’t have a lot of playing time but when I played I was 100%. The club trusted me and I gave it back to them.

“I thank the coach and the players because it remains a very good memory to have been able to evolve in England.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Minamino's time at Liverpool was far from a waste. The forward got to work alongside one of the best managers in the world - Jurgen Klopp.

Minamino also won the Premier League title, League Cup and FA Cup with the Reds. At the end of the day, the Japan international helped the club win a few trophies.

So, Minamino is a legend in our eyes. We wish the man all the best with his new journey. We will certainly be keeping a close eye on Minamino.

But, only time will tell if he is to be a success or not.
