Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk has opened up on the Reds' second half performance against Rangers at the Ibrox Stadium last night.

Jurgen Klopp's team scored six goals after half-time. Liverpool went on to defeat Rangers 7-1.

Van Dijk said the following about the Reds' display once the Champions League group stage fixture had come to an end.

"Yeah, it was great. I think obviously what we expected definitely happened with the fans behind them, especially in the beginning," he told BT Sport, as quoted by Liverpoolfc.com.

"They tried to give everything and you have to be very composed and play the ball quick from side to side, between the lines, get on the ball, put your body in between the ball and the player and play with composure.

"I think at times we did it, in the first half we could have done it better, but second half we did it much more."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool were superb in the second half against Rangers. It felt like we were watching the Reds of old.

Liverpool have struggled in the Premier League so far this season. The Reds have only accumulated 10 points from eight games.

But, Liverpool have been decent in Europe. The Reds have won three of their group stage games and only lost one.

Liverpool played against Real Madrid in the Champions League final last season. However, the La Liga side defeated Klopp's team 1-0 on the night, which was obviously disappointing.

Hopefully Liverpool can go one step further this campaign.
