Liverpool new-boy Fabio Carvalho has opened up on what took place when he first arrived at the club.

The Reds signed the attacking midfielder from Fulham for a transfer fee of £5.31 million earlier this summer. Carvalho completed a full pre-season with Liverpool.

The 19-year-old has opened up on the nickname he received from his new teammates and the song he had to sing as part of his initiation.

As quoted by AW on Twitter, Carvalho told the club's official website: "When I first came my nickname from the lads was Bruno Mars, which I've now said no to! So to stick to that little joke, though, I sang Bruno Mars' The Lazy Song. It was alright!

"We had a few days where we went for food at the restaurant and then there was the initiation with the songs for the new lads which brought us closer, especially for me as I had to sing and so the lads were just laughing and joking.

"Things like that just bring the group together, even the young players who came with us as well. It just brings everyone closer."

Anfield Watch Verdict

It sounds like all the Liverpool players made Carvalho feel welcome during the pre-season.

We are confident that the attacking midfielder is going to be a serious player for the Reds.

Carvalho scored 12 goals and registered eight assists in 44 appearances for Fulham's first-team.

The 19-year-old also averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.11 across 36 Championship appearances last season.

The aforementioned figures highlight that Carvalho is a talented youngster. Under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp, we can only see the attacking midfielder improving over time.

We wish Carvalho all the best heading into the future.
