“It isn't simple" - Antonio Conte praises Liverpool post-Spurs clash
Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has recently waxed lyrical about Liverpool.
Spurs secured a 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield last weekend. Son Heung-min gave Tottenham the lead after 56 minutes of play.
However, Luis Diaz equalised for Liverpool shortly after. Post-match, Conte was full of praise for the Reds.
As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, he told the Liverpool Echo the following: “It isn't simple to play against this team. Especially at Anfield, an amazing atmosphere with a lot of noise. It's not simple against Liverpool, to see them play, to run with energy despite playing every few days, it is incredible.
“They are deserving everything they are reaching in this season, for sure.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
Conte is absolutely spot on in his assessment of Liverpool's 2021-22 campaign.
The Reds have been superb this season. Liverpool have already won the League Cup.
Jurgen Klopp's side defeated Chelsea on penalties to secure the silverware. The Reds could still win a further three trophies this season (Champions League, FA Cup and Premier League title).
So, it was nice to hear an opposition manager give Liverpool a bit of praise.
On another note, Conte's Tottenham were decent against the Reds last weekend. Anfield is not an easy place to go for any away side.
So, Spurs did well to get a point against Liverpool. Post-game, Klopp made it clear that his team found it difficult against Tottenham.
"The expected game. It was always clear Tottenham would show up like they showed up," the German said, as quoted by the club's official website.
"With all the individual quality they have and with the game plan they have, it was clear it would be incredibly difficult. It didn't get easier when we conceded the goal."
