"It helps you to improve" - Luis Diaz on playing with Mohamed Salah
Liverpool forward Luis Diaz has waxed lyrical about teammate Mohamed Salah.
The Reds signed the Egyptian international from Roma for a transfer fee of £37.80 million back in the summer of 2017.
The winger has scored 159 goals and registered 64 assists in 258 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.
Salah has also won six major trophies and the Community Shield during his time at Anfield.
Diaz said that playing alongside the 30-year-old has improved his game.
As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, he told Sky Sports the following: “It's stupendous for me, being able to share my position in the team with Mo. He's a great guy and there's a very special connection between him and me, and between all of us, in fact.
“I've seen him over many years on television at so many tournaments and I'd like to say I'm proud of myself, having reached this position where I can share with him these experiences, to wear the same shirt and be a teammate of his. It's really something special.
“Every day, playing alongside players like him, it helps you to improve, not just in a footballing sense as a player but also as a person.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
We can see where Diaz is coming from. Playing with someone like Salah is only going to make you raise your standards.
Diaz has had a reasonable start to his Liverpool career. The Colombia international has found the back of the net seven times and secured five assists in 30 appearances for the club's first-team.
Hopefully Diaz can continue to improve and help Liverpool win a few trophies in the coming years.
But, only time will tell if that is to be the case. We wish Diaz all the best for the remainder of the season.
