"It changed the mood" - Jurgen Klopp on defeating Rangers

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has given his thoughts on his team's victory over Rangers at the Ibrox Stadium last night.

The Reds won the aforementioned Champions League group stage fixture 7-1. Liverpool have had a very slow start to the 2022-23 campaign.

But, Klopp has made it clear that his side's victory over Rangers has changed the mood inside the dressing room ahead of Sunday's blockbuster Premier League clash against Manchester City at Anfield.

"It changed the mood, definitely. It is completely different," he told the club's official website.

"We usually drink a beer after away games, but it is that long ago that I drank beer and I probably will be drunk after one!

"Yes, it changes the mood completely and that’s good, but we all know who we are welcoming (to Anfield) on Sunday and this will be a different game, we know that.

"It is better to go into a game with the feeling we’ve got tonight than any other."

Anfield Watch Verdict

It was brilliant to see Liverpool back to their free-flowing best. However, Liverpool did struggle in the first half.

There was no real intensity to their game. But, we saw the best of the Reds after half-time.

Manchester City are obviously a better side than Rangers. So, Liverpool will have to be at their best if they are to defeat the Citizens on Sunday.

In saying that, Klopp's team should take some confidence from defeating Rangers so comfortably. We are looking forward to the game.
