Jurgen Klopp now has Max Beier of Hoffenheim on his shortlist. Liverpool already know exactly what the player would cost.

This comes from Bild. The report that Jurgen Klopp has Max Beier on his shortlist for 2024 as the Reds look to upgrade their squad.

Beier, who turned 21 in October, is enjoying his first full season in the Bundesliga. He's playing regularly for Hoffenheim after two years with Hannover in the 2. Bundesliga.

He's taken to life in the top flight instantly, scoring six times already and looking at home. Beier is now inevitably linked with moves away and Hoffenheim feel it'll be difficult for them to hold onto him next year.

That's especially the case as Beier has a release clause in his contract. Teams can pick him up for 'just' £25m, which at his age and current form, could be a steal for certain sides.

One of those considering Beier is Liverpool. Klopp likes what he sees, says Bild, and they'll be investigating a possible move in 2024. That almost certainly just means seeing if the versatile forward can keep up his early-season level over the course of the whole campaign.

If he can, Liverpool might just justify a transfer next year.

One thing standing in the way here, though, is Liverpool's quantity of forwards. The Reds already have five elite options in Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo. It's difficult to see how Beier fits into that without at least one sale.

The only likely departure is Salah, of course, with strong links to Saudi Arabia. But should he leave next year, Liverpool would want a player far above Beier's level to replace him.

Thus it isn't too easy to see how this one happens. Liverpool aren't a club that typically looks to sign players just to loan out again, which could be an option for others given Beier's age.
