"It's not over until it's over."

It's a saying that resonates with Liverpool fans all over - and yesterday was another shining example of the Reds' ability to come up with the goods, even when all the odds seem against them.

Aptly attributed with the nickname of 'mentality monsters', Liverpool's tendency to leave it late is hardly a new trend for the club.

In fact, Liverpool have scored more winning goals in the 90th minute or later than any other team in Premier League history, according to OptaJoe - bagging 43 since the division's inception.

A whopping 17 of those have come during Jurgen Klopp's eight-year stint at the club, which equates to 40% of the club's total.

Perseverance has always been part of the fabric at Anfield, but it's become a characteristic so prevalent within Klopp's dressing room that you can only credit the German boss for such a commendable job.

These Liverpool players don't know the meaning of quit, even when as a collective, they don't seem at the races.

This was the case during Saturday midday clash against Crystal Palace, where the Reds looked well off the pace.

It had been 75 minutes of uninspiring football from Klopp's side, which saw them deservedly a goal behind with a quarter of an hour to play.

Yet, as Jordan Ayew saw red for a second bookable offence, Liverpool's eyes began to widen. Opportunity arose.

A minute later, Mohamed Salah netted his 200th Liverpool goal to equalise, seeing his deflected shot fly past a helpless Palace stopper.

Then, as the clock ticked over into injury time, super-sub Harvey Elliott fired in an absolute belter to put Liverpool in front - a goal which would prove the difference, handing the Reds three massive points.

Instead of going into the week with a bitter taste in the mouth, it's all smiles on the red side of Merseyside - who after an unlikely win, sit top of the Premier League table.

You just can't write them off.
