Impressive Alisson stat underlines his Premier League dominance

It seems bizarre that some still don't consider Alisson the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.

The Brazilian has been in inspired form again this season, continually producing match-defining saves for the Reds in the Premier League.

Alisson has been nominated for all five Premier League Save of the Month awards this season, winning the accolade in August for his stunning stop to deny Miguel Almiron during Liverpool's comeback victory against Newcastle United.

The 31-year-old has also made impressive stops against the likes of Tottenham and Crystal Palace, regularly managing to make difficult saves look routine.

Tottenham Hotspur's Guglielmo Vicario is the only Premier League goalkeeper who has come remotely close to matching Alisson's performances, but one particular statistic highlights that Liverpool's No. 1 is still the best of the bunch in England's top flight.

According to FBref, Alisson boasts the best save percentage (77.4%) in the Premier League this season.

Alphonse Areola of West Ham United is the closest to the Liverpool goalkeeper with 76.9%, but no other stopper has above 74% in the Premier League.

When you look at Manchester City's Ederson (64.7%), Arsenal's David Raya (61.5%) and Tottenham's Vicario (72.0%), it's clear than none of them lay a glove on Alisson.

Alisson has helped the Reds boast the meanest defence in the division too, Jurgen Klopp's side having let just 18 goals in this term.

That's two fewer than the next sternest backline (Arsenal with 20 goals conceded) and five fewer than reigning champions Manchester City.

The former Roma stopper also has the joint second-best clean sheet percentage (33.3%) and the lowest goals against per 90 (0.83) in the Premier League this campaign.

Liverpool have noticed a significant drop off when Alisson hasn't been in the side, Caoimhin Kelleher failing to fill the Brazilian's admittedly large shoes.

The Irish goalkeeper has struggled in between the sticks, his save percentage in his three Premier League games being just 50.0%.

In fact, there are even rumours suggesting that Liverpool may look to sell Kelleher this summer as they eye a more able deputy to the mighty Alisson.
