"I’m worried about his form" - Paul Merson on Mohamed Salah's recent displays

Pundit Paul Merson has given his opinion on Mohamed Salah's form.

The Liverpool forward has scored three goals and registered three assists in eight appearances for the club's first-team this season.

Salah has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.26 in the early stages of the 2022-23 campaign.

So, the Egyptian international has been playing reasonably well. However, Merson is concerned about Salah's form.

“Mohamed Salah is still Liverpool’s main man, but I’m worried about his form a little bit,” he wrote in his column for Sportskeeda.

“Sadio Mane and Salah always played well alongside each other and pushed each on, they were like Starsky and Hutch! Mane’s sale was one of the worst I’ve seen in recent years, I’ll never get tired of saying this.

“As for Liverpool’s front three, with all of them fit, I think Diogo Jota should start up front at the moment with Salah and Luis Diaz either side of him.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Salah is a world-class footballer. The winger has found the back of the net 159 times and secured 66 assists in 262 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

With that being the case, Salah has become a victim of his own standards. The Egyptian international has set the bar so high that when he is slightly off, he gets criticised.

But, we know that Salah is capable of returning to his absolute best form. The winger is only 30 years of age, so his career is far from over.

We wish Salah all the best for the remainder of the season.
