Former Liverpool player Pedro Chirivella has spoken about the impact Jurgen Klopp has had on his career.

Speaking after FC Nantes won the French Cup against Nice, as cited by Sport Witness, Chirivella talked about how Klopp helped him whilst he was at Liverpool.

“I’m very happy with this title. It’s been a long time since Nantes won something and to be part of history makes me very happy. It can be a very positive change for the club," said Chirivella.

“The last two years at Liverpool were very complicated and at some points I thought this wasn’t for me, but coming to Nantes changed everything. Klopp helped me a lot in my career, he helped me to make the choice to come to Nantes. I’m very grateful.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Ever since Pedro joined Nantes in 2020, he has been a key part of the French side's midfield, racking up 71 appearances in just two seasons.

During his time at Liverpool, the 24-year-old only played 11 times for the Reds, most of those being in domestic cup competitions.

However, during his final season with the Reds, the Spaniard made a couple of appearances in the FA Cup and he impressed a lot of people.

It was reported at the time that Liverpool had offered Chirivella a new contract but without any certainties that he would break into the first team, he decided to join Nantes.

It was definitely the right decision for the former Reds player. He's getting first-team football in a top five league whilst also impressing a lot of people.

Chirivella is still only 24-years-old and he has a lot of room to grow. Who knows, we could see the Spaniard in the Premier League in the future.

Whatever happens, it seems like he has a lot of respect for Klopp and Liverpool, which is always nice to see as a fan.
