"I'm really happy" - Naby Keita on facing RB Leipzig

Liverpool face off against RB Leipzig in their third pre-season game tomorrow and Naby Keita has spoken about how happy he is to return to his old club.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the midfielder spoke about what the Reds can expect from the German side tomorrow.

He said: “I’m made up and really happy to be going back to Germany, in particular the town of Leipzig. That’s where I really progressed as a player and that’s where Liverpool first saw me and decided to bring me to the club.

“I’ll be really happy to go back to see my old teammates and my old club. It’s a young team that plays football the right way and in a good spirit. So, I think it’s going to be a great game.

“From time to time you do come up against different playing styles and tactics, Leipzig are the sort of team that likes to press high, like we do. They don’t like to let the opposition team play and have the ball.

"That’s why I said it’s going to be a game played in the right spirit, and that’s why it’s going to be a good game to help us to prepare ahead of the new season.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool have always had a great relationship with the Red Bull organisation.

When we were redeveloping the AXA Training Centre, senior Anfield staff visited RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg's training grounds to look at their facilities.

It also helps that we have given them money over the years for some of their best players (Keita and Takumi Minamino).

Who knows, maybe Julian Ward (club's new sporting director) and Klopp will be on a little scouting mission in Germany and Austria when we face off against both of the Red Bull sides this pre-season.

Only time will tell if that is to be the case.
