Liverpool's newest signing Calvin Ramsay has waxed lyrical about Reds left-back Andy Robertson.

The club secured Ramsay's signature last weekend. The full-back joins Liverpool from Aberdeen for a transfer fee of ยฃ4.2 million.

Ramsay was asked in a recent interview about what he could learn from first-team left-back Andy Robertson. The 18-year-old had the following to say.

As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, he told the club's official website: "I'll learn a lot from him. I've seen a lot of him as well because of Liverpool and Scotland as well. So, I'll be looking to learn off him. He's a great full-back. The way he gets up and down, his energy, he can attack, he can defend.

"I think it's something I can definitely look forward to coming in and learning from players like that. Obviously I need to learn a bit more defensively, I can learn from them two as well. I'm excited.

"If I can come in in pre-season, put my mark down, then there's no reason why I can't push to get in the first-team squad."

Anfield Watch Verdict

We completely agree with Ramsay. He will certainly learn plenty from Robertson.

The 28-year-old is a superb all-round full-back. Robertson is solid defensively. Liverpool only conceded 26 goals in 38 Premier League fixtures last season.

Robertson was a key reason (29 appearances) why that was the case.

But, he is just as good going forward. Robertson has scored eight goals and registered 52 assists in 223 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

Therefore, Ramsay would be wise to listen to his new teammate. The reality is, by training and playing alongside some top players, you improve.

So, we only expect Ramsay to grow as a player in the coming years.
