Liverpool and Manchester City are battling for the Premier League once again and Ilkay Gundogan has hit back at claims that Pep Guardiola's side are fearing the Reds' title charge.

We are no strangers to a Liverpool vs Manchester City title race. After an anti-climactic start to the season, Jurgen Klopp's side have managed to claw back the reigning title holders to within their grasp.

Liverpool are now only six points off City, with a game in hand and also having to play Pep's side at the Ethiad.

This season's race could theoretically go down to the final day of the season, like it has done before between the two sides.

Speaking about the title race, Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has said that his side are not fearing Liverpool's late title charge.

“What do you mean by fear?” he told SportBILD, via Sport Witness, when asked if there was fear around the City team due to the title race.

“For the league, it’s extremely exciting and good. The good thing for us is that it’s not an unfamiliar situation.

“It’s like two years ago, so we should be able to handle the pressure Liverpool are trying to build. We know that we have a very strong team, extremely good players.

“And that we are still playing against them at home. Everything is open: It will be a hot dance. But that’s what we play football for!”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Manchester City and Pep Guardiola will definitely not be fearing this Liverpool side. They will respect what Klopp has done this season but like previous campaigns, the Spaniard and his team will focus on their remaining games.

As Ilkay said, this is a really exciting time for the league and both teams. No one likes one team strolling to the title each season.

Whatever happens this season, whoever wins the title will of fully deserved it and the final few months are set to be very exciting indeed.
