Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has named which player has performed to a higher level for Liverpool out of Mohamed Salah and Luis Suarez.

The 42-year-old said that he would take the Egyptian ahead of the Uruguayan. Ferdinand further added that Salah is an "immense" footballer.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Ferdinand told BT Sport the following: "I'd take Mo Salah, what he's done the last four seasons, top goal scorer in each of them, top goal scorer again for Liverpool this season, I just think he's immense."

Ferdinand added: “The icing on the cake for me - over the consistency - [is] he's been part of a team that wins big trophies and he's been integral in that. He's won the Premier League, he's won the Champions League.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

There is no denying that Suarez was a superb player for Liverpool between 2011-14. The striker scored 82 goals and registered 47 assists in 133 appearances for the Reds.

Suarez also won the 2012 League Cup with the club. However, we also believe that Salah has been a better player for Liverpool than the Uruguayan.

The Egyptian international has found the back of the net 137 times and registered 51 assists in 214 appearances for the Reds.

Salah has also won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Premier League title with Liverpool.

In saying that, we do appreciate the contribution that both players have made towards the club.
