"I'd like to see" - Former Red says Liverpool should sign Premier League winger
Former Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson would like to see the Reds make a move for Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for the England international in recent times.
With that being the case, Johnson believes Saka would be perfectly suited to how the Reds play under Jurgen Klopp.
“I’d like to see Bukayo Saka go to Liverpool. He’d suit Liverpool perfectly,” he told The Games Cabin, as quoted by Football London.
“But he’s playing well for Arsenal, and he clearly enjoys being there. He’s obviously a good lad, and you can see that from the way he interacts with other players.
“He’s still super young so maybe a few more years at Arsenal would work too. As long as he continues to stamp his authority there, then the big teams are still going to want to sign him.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
Saka is coming off a very good season. The winger scored 12 goals and registered seven assists in 43 appearances for Arsenal.
Saka also averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.06 across 38 Premier League appearances.
The aforementioned figures highlight that the England international would add some depth and quality to Liverpool's attack.
Saka is only 20 years of age, which means that he is far from the finished article.
But, we would be surprised if Arsenal were to sell one of their best young players to a direct rival.
Saka is contracted until the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign, so a free transfer is off the table for the time being.
Only time will tell if Liverpool are to make a move for the youngster.
