Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konaté seems to be recovering well from his recent hamstring injury and has given a series of positive updates via his Instagram stories.

Konaté, who missed Liverpool's last two games before the September international break due to the injury, returned to France for a mid-season holiday in Paris and is using the break to improve his fitness.

Although he was initially included in Didier Deschamps' France squad, Konaté was eventually replaced by Jean-Clair Tobido because he had not yet fully recovered.

However, in two brief videos, the 24-year-old is seen out on a run alongside a canal and cycling past the Eiffel Tower, seemingly indicating that he is nearing a return to training with Liverpool.

A return at Wolves?

The Liverpool squad is not scheduled to reconvene at the AXA Training Centre until later next week, with their next Premier League match against Wolves not until Saturday 16 September.

There is now growing hope that Konaté could be available for the match at Molineux, but whether he will immediately return to the starting lineup will depend on how he responds to training.

At present, there is a shortage of options in central defence, with captain Virgil van Dijk's suspension meaning that Joe Gomez and Joël Matip had to step in for the 3-0 win over Aston Villa before the break.

However, the duo performed well and few would complain if they retained their positions regardless of whether Konaté is fit to return.
