Ibrahima Konate OUT, surprise star in: Liverpool transfer plan takes shape
Liverpool are set to make major changes this summer and one swap could be at the heart of it. Ibrahima Konate's future is not clear in the slightest.
Liverpool will almost certainly see a few fan-favourites leave Anfield this summer. Of course, there's the big three of Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

There's also set to be a major overhaul in attack, Anfield Watch understands.
And then there's Ibrahima Konate. Konate enters the final year of his contract this summer, putting Liverpool in a situation they'd rather not be in.
They have offered the Frenchman a new deal but he's yet to actually accept it. It increasingly appears that he wants to wait until the summer - a time when Liverpool's negotiating power suffers.
The Reds do not want to lose Konate on a free transfer in 2026. If he won't sign a new contract, they'll almost certainly try to sell and Anfield Watch revealed recently that Paris Saint-Germain are ready to make him a major offer.
Konate is from Paris, of course, and could be tempted to the club. Real Madrid are also said to be interested in him - though, they may want him to wind his contract down.
But the overall point here is that Liverpool don't have the power to keep Konate at the club long-term. They may even lose him this summer, albeit for a fee.

Naturally, the club must look at potential replacements. And they might have found one.
Liverpool watch Joel Ordonez
The Daily Mail reports of 'talk in Belgium' that Liverpool like Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez. The 20-year-old has caught the eye in the UEFA Champions League this season and that's got a few clubs interested.
Ordonez moved to Brugge from Ecuador in 2022, playing a single season for their youth side before earning a promotion to the senior setup. He's now in his second full season and there's a slight suspicion that this will be his last.
And that's where Liverpool come in. There's a good chance that the club will restructure its defence quite dramatically this summer.

Konate could go, Van Dijk could go and Joe Gomez nearly went last summer. Expect more on that in 2025.
Ordonez, then, could be a replacement of sorts. There's no chance he could slot right in and replace Konate, let alone Van Dijk. But Gomez's role? Potentially.
But there's also the case of bringing in Ordonez knowing full well that Konate will leave on a free in 2026. That could actually be a really solid plan if the Reds can't sign him to a new contract and he decides to run it down.
That's the situation we'd really watch here. Ordonez is a name to look out for because Liverpool could well place him firmly on the shopping list if things go a certain way this year.
