Ibou Konate injury: Liverpool have ONE person to blame for SHOCK news
Liverpool have one person to blame after Ibrahima Konate picked up a serious injury this week. The Reds should be furious.
It appears Liverpool will be without Ibrahima Konate for some time. The centre-back hobbled off after the win over Real Madrid on Wednesday, leaving fans worried.
And they were right to be worried. Arne Slot didn't give anything away in his press conference on Thursday, merely saying Liverpool were still assessing things.
Now we know why - there was a lot to assess here. DaveOCKOP reports that Konate has suffered a knee injury that could keep him out for six weeks.
That rules out the monster clash with Manchester City on Sunday, which will likely be the season's biggest fixture when all is said and done. It also rules him out of the gruelling Christmas period - one where the Liverpool squad will be stretched thin.
This is a massive blow, then. And Liverpool only have one person to blame.
Ibrahima Konate's injury woe
The fact is, Konate was doing wonderfully on the injury front this season. His issues haven't been as bad as predicted and actually, he had put together his longest stretch of games since moving to Liverpool.
Then came Wednesday.
Carlo Ancelotti essentially called game in the second half when he brought on the little-seen Endrick. The Brazilian, one of the hottest talents in football and a player Liverpool themselves tried to sign, had little impact before the full-time whistle.
And yet, he's managed to dramatically impact Liverpool's season. The teenager wasn't a threat on goal - but he was a massive threat to Konate's knee
Kick after kick after kick. Endrick simply fouled Konate every time he went near him.
It's a 'miracle' that he somehow escaped with just the one yellow card. After all, there's zero intention to get the ball in any of these.
Liverpool should be absolutely furious with Endrick here - as well as the decision not to send him off. Konate has paid for the price for it all, as have the Reds ahead of Manchester City this weekend.
