"I wouldn’t have felt like we had stolen anything here" - Brighton boss on Reds clash

New Brighton and Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi was pleased with his team's performance against Liverpool at Anfield last Saturday.

The Seagulls secured a 3-3 draw against the Reds. However, De Zerbi believes that his side could have secured the three Premier League points.

“I am happy with this game. We played a very good match, we could have scored more but we play at Anfield,” he told the BBC, as quoted by Liverpool World.

“It’s my first game in the Premier League but I know Anfield, I know how difficult it is in this stadium.

“A crazy game. I am happy and proud for my players and my club. There was a possibility to win the game but Liverpool is a fantastic team. I knew before the game it could be difficult and it was very difficult.

“Of course, the point for us is really important because Liverpool at the end of the day is Liverpool but we had a lot of chances to score the goals and if we had won the game I wouldn’t have felt like we had stolen anything here."

Anfield Watch Verdict

We do agree with De Zerbi's take. Brighton had plenty of chances to score more goals against Liverpool.

Therefore, the Seagulls could have secured the three points. But, a draw was probably a fair result.

Both sides were well off the pace defensively. With that being the case, we never felt like either side deserved to win the game.

Liverpool's next Premier League clash is against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium next Sunday. The Gunners currently sit at the top of the table.

So, the Reds will have to improve dramatically on last weekend's performance if they are to beat Mikel Arteta's team.

We wish Liverpool all the best ahead of the top-flight fixture.
