“I would have loved to play with him" - Alan Shearer on current Liverpool player
Former Newcastle United forward Alan Shearer has recently been talking about Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The 51-year-old named the Scouser in his rolling Premier League Team of the Season. Shearer said that he has been impressed with Alexander-Arnold when he has had the ball at his feet.
The ex-striker further added that he would have "loved" to have played with the defender.
Shearer told the Premier League's official website the following: “Right-back, I’m going for Trent Alexander-Arnold. I would have loved to play with him. He gets into so many good positions going forward. The quality of his balls never fail to disappoint.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
Alexander-Arnold has been very good for Liverpool in the Premier League this season.
The right-back has scored two goals and registered nine assists in 18 appearances. Alexander-Arnold has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.59.
Therefore, we weren't surprised to see Shearer place the Scouser in his rolling Premier League Team of the Season.
We can also understand why the former Newcastle United forward would have "loved" to have played with Alexander-Arnold.
As we have already pointed out, the 23-year-old is capable of setting up goalscoring opportunities for his teammates. Therefore, it is no real surprise to hear that Shearer would have happily taken to the field with Alexander-Arnold.
