“I would always put Firmino in the team" - Clarence Seedorf on Firmino
Former professional footballer Clarence Seedorf has recently waxed lyrical about Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino.
The Reds signed the Brazilian from Hoffenheim for a transfer fee of £36.90 million back in the summer of 2015.
Since then, Firmino has found the back of the net 101 times and registered 77 assists in 334 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.
The 30-year-old has also won six major trophies and the Community Shield with the Reds. In other words, Firmino has been a superb player for the club.
Like many of us at Anfield Watch, Seedorf is a big fan of the forward.
“I would always put Firmino in the team. In recent years Liverpool did well because he is a bit like (Karim) Benzema at Real Madrid. He knows how to play a little deeper and goes on the wings," he told Amazon, as quoted by AW on Twitter.
“He is a nine who can read what the team needs and Klopp will focus a lot on him this season, despite the arrival of (Darwin) Nunez."
Anfield Watch Verdict
We completely agree with Seedorf's take. Firmino is a terrific footballer. He will be remembered as a legend of the club.
Firmino has had a solid start to the 2022-23 campaign. The forward scored three goals and registered three assists in seven appearances.
Firmino has also averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.19 in the early stages of the season. Hopefully the Brazilian can keep up the good form until the end of the campaign.
Firmino is out of contract at the conclusion of the season. We have no idea where his long-term future lies.
