"I was just so impressed" - NBA coach on Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah

NBA coach Steve Kerr has recently praised Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.

The Reds signed the Egyptian international from Roma for a transfer fee of £37.80 million back in the summer of 2017.

Since then, Salah has scored 159 goals and registered 64 assists in 259 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

The aforementioned figures highlight that the 30-year-old has been an exceptional player for the Reds.

Salah has also donated money to his hometown to help build a school, which Kerr absolutely loves.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, he told ESPN the following: "I started following the Premier League maybe five or six years ago and I had seen Mohamed Salah play and read about him. I was just so impressed by his character and what he had done in his hometown, helping to build a school.

"I knew how beloved he was in Egypt, so I said: 'That's my guy!' I wanted to cheer for Mohamed Salah and when I found out he played for Liverpool, I said: 'Ok, that's my team!' So, I've been a Liverpool fan ever since.

"I've gotten to meet some of the coaches. I met with Jurgen Klopp the other day in Liverpool, which was a great thrill. Watching the game, it's very similar (to basketball) in terms of concepts."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Salah is a world-class footballer. But, as Kerr pointed out, he is also a top human being.

Salah is a great ambassador for the club. The Egyptian international signed a contract extension earlier this summer.

Salah's new deal expires at the conclusion of the 2024-25 campaign. Therefore, the Anfield faithful will be able to sit back and watch the 30-year-old represent the club for at least a few more years.

We wish Salah all the best heading into the future.
