Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has revealed that he would like to continue representing the club.

The Brazil international's contract expires at the conclusion of next season. With that being the case, there is plenty of talk regarding Firmino's long-term future.

He is approaching the backend of his career. However, Firmino has made it clear that he would like to remain at Anfield.

“I’m very happy here,” he told TNT Sports Brasil, as translated by Reddit user conradofs.

“I’m grateful to God to be here playing at a great club with great players, winning titles, and my wish is to stay.

“I want to be here, I’m happy here, and that’s all I can say – I want to stay.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool signed Firmino from Hoffenheim for a transfer fee of £36.90 million back in the summer of 2015.

The forward has scored 98 goals and registered 74 assists in 326 appearances for the club's first-team.

Firmino has also won the Champions League, Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League title, League Cup and FA Cup with the Reds. He has had a very successful career at Liverpool.

In terms of this season, the Brazil international has been in decent form. Firmino has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 6.95 across the 2021-22 campaign (34 appearances).

Therefore, we would not be against Liverpool retaining Firmino for a few more seasons. The 30-year-old has shown in recent times that he is still more than capable of playing his role.

You need squad depth and Firmino certainly gives Liverpool exactly that.

But, only time will tell where his long-term future lies. On another note, we wish Firmino and his teammates all the best for tomorrow night's Champions League final against Real Madrid.
