"I want to play football" - Neco Williams talks about his loan move to Fulham
Neco Williams has talked about his loan move to Fulham ahead of returning to Liverpool in the summer.
Speaking to the Independent, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Williams said that all he wants is to play football 'week in and week out'.
"It’s been a great loan. But I’ll be going back to Liverpool in the summer, feeling like a more mature player and definitely an improved player," said Williams.
“Right now, I just want to play football week in and week out. I want to play as much as possible and gain as much experience as possible, and so far it has definitely helped me.
"I’ve improved as a player and getting promoted is a nice one to put on the CV. I’ve gone from starting a Champions League game against AC Milan and beating them 2-1 to playing Barnsley.
“So I have gained quite a lot of valuable and varied experience at such a young age. I want to be a Premier League player. For me, I think it’s the best and the toughest league in the world.
“And you always want to be playing against the best players in the world.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
Since Neco joined Fulham in January, he's been their main starter at right-back. The Welsh international has played 13 games for the Lilywhites, scoring two goals and getting two assists.
Liverpool were trying to off-load him in the summer, according to reports, but no one would meet the valuation of the full-back.
However, after this impressive loan at Craven Cottage, there should be a lot of clubs interested in the 21-year-old.
It's understood that the Reds are looking for around £10m to let Williams leave and for someone who has Premier League and Champions League experience, that's a bargain.
Williams is a great player and it's a shame that we probably won't see him succeed at Liverpool but we currently have the best right-back in world football and he isn't starting over Trent Alexander-Arnold any time soon.
