“I thought Carvalho" - Paul Scholes gives his verdict on Liverpool forward

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has praised Liverpool's new attacker Fabio Carvalho.

The Reds came up against the Red Devils at Old Trafford yesterday. Liverpool lost 2-1.

Carvalho did not start for the Reds, but he replaced James Milner 73 minutes into the clash.

The 19-year-old was lively against Manchester United. Carvalho looked to make things happen.

With that being the case, Scholes had plenty of good things to say about the youngster post-game.

As quoted by HITC, he told Optus Sport: “I thought Carvalho did well when he came on. He carried the ball, running forward.

"That’s what I mean about creativity in the middle of the pitch. (James) Milner and (Jordan) Henderson – they’re too similar. When Carvalho came on he actually started running at the defence and trying to create a little bit more.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We would love to see Carvalho start against Bournemouth at Anfield next Saturday.

The Reds were toothless going forward against Manchester United. But, when Carvalho came on, Liverpool looked stronger in attack.

The 19-year-old scored 11 goals and registered eight assists in 38 appearances for Fulham last season. So, the aforementioned figures highlight that Carvalho is more than capable of scoring or creating a goal.

If Carvalho is given a chance to prove his worth in the next couple of games, we are confident that he will take his opportunity.

We wish the youngster all the very best for the remainder of the campaign.
