Pundit Gary Lineker has recently praised Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden.

The former England international said that the 21-year-old is going to be a fine player. Lineker believes that Foden would get into Liverpool's first XI.

It is important to note that the Reds have not been linked with a move for Manchester City's No.47.

As quoted by HITC, Lineker told the Match of the Day: Top 10 podcast on the BBC the following: “He is going to be great, isn’t he? I mean, what a footballer.”

The 61-year-old added: “I think you could put him in that Liverpool team, and he could equally play for a Klopp-kind because he has got that energy.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Foden is a world-class talent. The 21-year-old has scored five goals and registered five assists in 15 appearances for Manchester City this season.

Foden has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.20 in the early stages of the 2021-22 Premier League campaign.

The aforementioned figures highlight that the Englishman is a player on the rise. Also, it would be fair to assume that Foden will only get better with age.

Therefore, we do believe that he could start for Liverpool's starting XI on a regular basis. We would love to see the Reds sign Foden. But, as things stand, that won't be happening.
