"I think the best example for all of us" - Jurgen Klopp on James Milner

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has praised Reds midfielder James Milner.

The Englishman is 36 years of age and still playing at the top level. Milner joined Liverpool from Manchester City on a free transfer back in the summer of 2015.

Since then, the veteran has made 291 appearances for the club's first-team. Klopp has recently stated that Milner is a superb role model for the younger generation.

"I think the best example for all of us is James Milner always. I'm not sure exactly how many Premier League pre-seasons he’s had but (it must be) quite a few," he told Sky Sports, as quoted by AW on Twitter.

"It's also just enjoying the moment because the life of a football player after their career is longer, hopefully, than the one before or during a career. So you better enjoy it!"

Anfield Watch Verdict

We completely agree with Klopp's take. Milner is such a professional. He is a great role model for every footballer.

Also, we loved Klopp's comment about making the most out of your career. The reality is, footballers can only play at the highest level for a short period of time.

So, they have to make the most of their time. Milner, who has been a professional footballer since 2002, has certainly done that.

He has played for the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Leeds United.

Milner has also won three Premier League titles and the Champions League. The 36-year-old is out of contract at the conclusion of this season.

It will be interesting to see if Milner plays on beyond the 2022-23 campaign.
